FIN 550: Big Data Analytics for Predictive and Causal Analysis

Recent trends in “big data” present both challenges and opportunities for businesses. This course introduces concepts and techniques of business data analytics and shows how they can be used to make predictions and to distinguish between correlation and causation. Students learn to apply methods of data visualization, machine learning, and randomized and natural experiments using R programming within the Amazon Web Services cloud computing environment.
